Overview

The NEC Decision 219/2013 to establish the Science and Technology Council came in a time when the coordination and management of research in PNG was practically non-existent and left to the devices of individuals and institutions. There have been a great number of diverse researchers conducted in PNG that contributed to new discoveries in agriculture, science, humanities and health, which unfortunately has benefited foreign researchers and no tangible returns back to PNG. In light of that, the Council has been tasked with coordinating and managing research so that research conducted in this country is meaningful and contributes to socioeconomic development of PNG.
